TRON LEGACY

Tron Legacy...Highly anticipated, did it live up to expectations?

If I were to grade it on the visual experience alone....yes, it definitely is very very cool!

"The Grid" as it is called is replete with all of the very cool games that we were expecting- The LightCycles, and the Disc throwing games. All very cool to watch.

Now....grading its plot is a different story- You have to keep in mind that it is completely science fiction, gone in a direction that we are not used to.... Perhaps it is ahead of our times again (Tron was ahead of its time back when it was made).

So, I found that the plot was not the main thing that kept me intrigued....it was the continued visual experience.

In summary, go check it out and have fun. Rent Tron on DVD before you go see it so you can understand more about the characters.

TANGLED

And yes...finally got a chance to watch this fantastic animation movie.

It is Walt Disney's 50th Animated Motion picture, so they had a lot to live up to.

I think it is a great story-

Very Entertaining, great humor-

I saw it at the El Capitan Theater on Hollywood, which included a live musical show which was quite nice actually.
The place was packed! Man and the audience (Mostly children) were cheering like crazy!

Very warm and touching!

The Warrior's Way

Fun!!!!

I lived in Japan for 13 years, so when an Anime is brought to life, with high quality computer graphics....well let's say I'm down to go check it out.

This movie personifies the calm cool ninja attitude, and the combination of that character placed along side an over the top group of cowboys and circus freaks (yes really) allows for a good entertaining story.

Believe it or not, it is so picturesque, that I was actually touched by its beauty.

True, I may be biased because of my love of Asia....But you go see what you think!

The Next Three Days

Good movie~!

The Next Three Days packed a really good punch!

Our favorite Gladiator Russel Crowe takes on an against all odds rescue mission.

He's actually attempting to break his wife out of prison. He feels she was innocent....can't prove it...what else is a guy supposed to do? Let his wife rot in jail and move on?

Let Russel show you how its done....

Overall a good movie.

127 Hours

Man! This one was gooooooood!!!!!

If I said in an earlier review that The Fighter was the best flick I've seen in a while, let me say that 127 Hours was 11 out of 10, whereas The Fighter struggled to be an 8!!

When I saw one of the previews for 127 Hours I thought nothing of it. The movie was not broadly promoted so I did not know anything other than what I saw in that one preview.

The name 127 Hours doesn't reveal much either.

This guy basically gets stuck on a solo rock climbing trip, and the challenge that follows is an un-freakin-believable combination of mental and physical stamina the likes of which are astounding.

The filming and editing style is so riveting that you are compelled to think, and wonder, and cry, and reflect!

It is AMAZING!!!!

Watch it! $1.99 Domains* at GoDaddy.com

The Tourist

This was a fun movie to see, if only to see Jonny Depp in a non-pirate roll.

The film was different.

It is more of a romance than an action spy thriller....so if that is what you are expecting then....well you'll see what I mean.

I have to say that it lacked a little "umf", or intensity that one would have liked to see.

Overall a decent movie.

The Fighter

This was the best flick I've seen in a while.

It was truly funny as hell to watch Bale acting like a crackhead as he really pulled it off!

The true story aspect of it is very compelling, and one can see how human interaction can ruin talent, and one can see the victorious side of the same coin!

The positive effects of true love with a great supportive woman are also shown.

Wonderful film making!

The Other Guys- Go watch the other movie...

Every now and then a movie comes out that seems to have a lot of potential, and you like the actors and everything- but the way the movie flows, and the direction it takes you sprawls out in so many directions that you find it hard to keep up....

This is one of those movies.

The shotgun style humor- Meaning they tried to just throw in jokes of all different genres- business, hip-hop, raunchy, sex, romance, cop movie humor, alcohol abuse, etc. in other words, they went as far as they could go in so many directions, with over the top humor, that it kind of lost any particular flavor-

I got bored, and was almost about to leave-

This doesn't happen to me very often. I bet a 15 year old may enjoy the movie.

So....I recommend you skip this one and go see The Other Movie....

"SALT" Vs "INCEPTION"

I know I'll catch a lot of flack for this review, possibly...but then again maybe not.

I enjoyed SALT much more than I enjoyed INCEPTION.

Why? Angelina Jolie's good looks? No, she's actually a little too skinny in this flick.

Several reasons:

Inception was visually stunning and cool, and all that, but it was not an entirely original concept- it has been preceded by "Dreamscape" way back in 1984 with Dennis Quaid, wherein several psychics, good ones and and bad ones, figured out how to go into other's dreams. Dennis Quaid is ultimately confronted with the task of attempting to foil a presidential assassination taking place within the president's dream! Good movie.

When writing Inception the writer was looking at making a "Matrix-esque" film, but he didn't even allow the Dreamers to have any super powers like Neo and Morpheus! Big mistake- They could have at least allowed Leo to pull some sweet karate moves and defy gravity a couple of times! But no, it had to be "different" than the Matrix so no one could say it was a copy- And of course he had to keep the plot "realistic"!!! A contradiction in itself since on the one hand a girl can cause the entire earth to fold over onto itself, but she can't do anything extra-ordinary with their own bodies...?

On the other hand in Salt, we saw Angelina performing some unreal stunts, that were pretty exciting to watch- And some VERY CLEVER Russian spy maneuvers.

SALT's pace was very fast, and the film was not too long- just 1 hour and 40 minutes. So you don't get a chance to be bored, (Inception was long, and I did get bored)

Salt has an excellent plot, playing on the old Russia Vs US cold war theme, that has for so long been forgotten or dormant in Hollywood, even reminding us that Nuclear War is a threat even today-

Another downside I must mention on Inception, is that it actually encourages Drug use. I can see some naive teenager watching it...thinking "Wow! Cool! I want to experiment with 'Compounds' (The word used instead of 'Drug' in Inception) and see what I can dream up". Note: The heroes in the film, take "Compounds" sleeping drugs, intravenously no less, to get them into the "shared dreams".

So all in all- I'd recommend Salt over Inception!

Knight & Day- Definitely a fun choice

Ok, So Knight & Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz is a new twist thrown into the Spy Vs Spy genre.

It is a good movie for guys, because of the action, and a good chick flick because, a lot of the film centers around Cameron Diaz viewpoint and her becoming enamored with this international Spy.

It is clever, and the supporting actors are good-

According to Box Office Mojo it cost $117 million to make, and has made back $104 million.

According to IMDB it is now just about to open in several high box office countries including: Sweden, Australia, Greece, Hungary, Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil, Finland, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Belgium, France, Italy and Japan.

In other words, it looks like it will most definitely turn a profit-
Perhaps 20 or 30 million.... Not too shabby.

They have some new posters for the international release also check them out by clicking here!

Anyway- I'm sure you can enjoy this one!

IRONMAN 2

Yes, it is good!

It keeps up the high tech adventure, and adds a little evil-

It expands upon the mystery of the Avengers that will be hitting the screens soon.

You should definitely enjoy it if you liked the first one!

HAITI - VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION

Normally I write movie reviews on this blog, however I wanted to send a special acknowledgement to all those courageous people, who have gone to Haiti to help out!

A friend of mine just returned from Haiti, and here are a couple pictures of her in action- She is one of hundreds of Scientology Volunteer Ministers, who have responded to the call and I admire their courage.

Very well done to all who have contributed in any way that you can to the relief efforts in Haiti!

From Paris With Love- See it!

This movie was really fantastic!

I saw previews for this movie a few months back and I got the impression that it was a comedy.

John Travolta enters the scene with very witty, in your face, and offensive humor, as expected- he plays a semi-psychotic secret agent who takes "license to kill" to a whole new level.

What was not expected was that the film turns from humorous into a hard-core, rogue warrior, bloodbath, with a very catchy plot!

Travolta keeps the humor alive throughout the entire film, but about halfway into it you'll see what I mean when I tell you, "you ain't in no comedy!"

I thoroughly enjoyed it! Fast paced! Crazy action!

Let me know what you think!

Book of ELI = "Mad Max Beyond Thunderstorm"

I'll label this one as a "good movie" you can enjoy it in the theater, and keep up on the latest version of the post apocalyptic aftermath.

Denzel impresses us with his surviver-pseudo-martial-arts style. Great action scenes, but not quite enough of them!

Gary Oldman was perfectly cast as the neo-dictator, who would use God's word to enslave....

Jennifer Beals show us she's still got the right stuff as Claudia!

Good stuff!
